Papoose Accused Of Trying To Break Remy Out Of Prison

According to the New York Daily News, rapper Papoose attempted to break future wife Remy Ma out of prison with a small key.
"A wedding was scheduled today and a visitor to that wedding service was found to be in possession of jail contraband so the wedding was canceled," said a correction officer from Rikers Island.
"The key that was found today easily opened handcuffs that we and other law enforcement officials use," the official said.
Miss Info clarified certain details about this situation on her site, explaining that Papoose had with him an old skeleton key that he had on his keychain for a long time - which he visited Rikers on numerous occasions with, never having a problem.
According to Miss Info, Papoose subsequently gave up the keys once he was informed he could not enter with them. As the rapper was about to get onto the bus to visit Remy, along with Remy Ma's mother and three unidentified guests, he was thrown into a jail cell, and later taken to the warden.
At that point, Papoose was accused of trying to break Remy out of prison with the skeleton key.
Papoose was not charged, but cannot visit the prison for six months.
Remy Ma is due to be sentenced today for the shooting of former friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph. She faces up to 25 years.

Bill O'Reilly Flips Out! [Back In His Younger Reporter Days]
Hip Hop fans who watch Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor” know that host, Bill O’Reilly has a bit of a temper. His outburst against many of his guests and various topics have been discussed on news shows and message boards alike, but a new video shows that “the culture warrior” can take it to his staff as well.
A video showing old footage from O’Reilly’s “Inside Edition” days show the pundit going on a tirade over jumbled writing on the studio teleprompter.
After failing to read the copy, O’Reilly drops the “the F bomb” on the staffer who previously tried to walk him through the text.
Aside from the antics, which could easily be described as childish, the language O’Reilly uses is similar to the language of the “gangster rappers” he readily decries.

Damon Dash Calls Jim Jones' Major Label Debut ''Classic''
Former Jay-Z business partner Damon Dash believes Harlem rapper Jim Jones has a hit on his hands with this next solo album.
Jones inked a lucrative deal with Columbia Records last year and longtime associate and Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Damon Dash believes the Dipset Capo's major label debut may just be a "classic."
"He actually put together a pretty decent album, I think, better than the average and what people expected," Dame told Hot 97 personality Peter Rosenberg in a recent interview. "He's a pretty respected dude and he has a lot of swagger. I'ma be helping my man Jim out trying to take him as a brand and making sure he gets to capitalize off that."
Dash grew up with Jones and said he's known the Byrd Gang front man since Jimmy was six years old. But he hasn't always been so supportive of Jim's career.
"I told Jim not to rap because he's not a rapper," Dash admitted. "I looked at him like a business man. But he has enough swagger and personality to pull it off."
Jim Jones is currently working on his fourth studio album, the follow up to 2006's Hustler's P.O.M.E (Product of My Environment) which scored with the infectious hit single "Ballin."
"Through his practice and his relentless assault on making music, a record every day, he actually got pretty good," Dame said. "So his new album, I think he might have come up with a classic, and that's me saying that."
According to Dame, Jim has two movies in the works, a book and a Byrd Gang album coming out in June, in addition to his solo project on the way.
"I'm proud of him, for real," Dame said.

MTV Puts Best Emcee List Up To Viewer Vote
If you remember from last years’ MTV’s Hottest Emcee’s In The Game list, Lil Wayne took the crown, leaving the competition in the dust. The conservation, however, was far from over.
After the rankings were revealed, many displeased viewers (as they always are with these lists) and artists alike sounded off on the list. 50 Cent let it be known he deserved a higher spot than #8. “I’m #8, and I got a CD going on sale. Fuck MTV,” 50 stated. On the other hand, Snoop Dogg was disgusted by the fact he wasn’t even on the list. “To the people of 2007 for leaving me off the list, fuck y'all.”
Now, the judging crew is getting back together to figure out this year’s list of Hip Hop’s hottest emcees. This past year has brought amazing accomplishments from some, but has also featured disappointing decline in other artists, so it will be interesting to see how the judges accommodate these issues in putting together their new top ten list.
Though it won’t necessarily influence the judge’s decisions on their final list, MTV has implemented a fan-vote poll for people to vote for their favorite Hip Hop emcee. Among the candidates are seasoned veterans (Andre 3000, Jay-Z), '00s contemporaries (Ludacris, 50 Cent), and delegates of the ringtone generation (Shawty Lo, Rocko).
Will Lil Wayne keep his crown with an upcoming CD in his own right? Did Kanye have enough success and clout in 2007 to woo the judges? Is Soulja Boy even relevant to the discussion? Find out on MTV May 16th.

Lil Wayne Talks 50 Cent, Cocaine & Rock Music
The last several years have seen Lil Wayne compete with the late James Brown for the title of “hardest working man in show business.” The Cash Money Millionaire has released a string of mix tapes and rocked a song with everybody from Little Brother (“Breakin My Heart”) to Playaz Circle (“Duffle Bag Boy”). Wayne recently sat down with Blender and gave his thoughts on rock music, prescription drugs and other topics.
“Lollipop,” the debut single from the upcoming The Carter III departs from the typical three 16’s and a hook, and finds Wayne singing and partying like a rock star in Vegas. Many fans may be surprised to find out that Weezy is a fan of rock.
“Nirvana,” he replied when asked about his favorite band. “I been into them since ‘Teen Spirit.’ There used to be this video-request station called the Box, and some motherfucker must have loved Nirvana, ’cause that video was always on. I loved it—everyone was throwing everyone else around, and all the girls looked like they were ready to do whatever.”
One issue that has followed Wayne around as of late is his affinity for sippin’ syrup. Despite his behavior being slightly Amy Winehouse-ish at times, he revealed there are times when he just says no.
“I’ll never fuck with no more coke. It’s not about a bad high, it’s just about the acne: Cocaine makes your face break out, and I’m a pretty boy.”
Another thing on Wayne’s “do not fuck with” list is 50 Cent. After 50 called the New Orleans emcee a “whore” on the radio, Weezy F. was surprisingly silent, offering up no response. Instead of dissing back, he extended his thanks.
“I have to call him and say thank you. He’s catapulted me. Nigga, white people know me now! Thank you! Diss rhyme? Fuck no! That nigga thrives off that. I am not feeding that tiger. I’m smart.”
He also went on to call Fif the “hardest nigga on the planet.”
“Do you see his size? I’m small. I saw a YouTube video of this dude playing a concert; somebody threw water on him—he took off his hat, went in the crowd, grabbed that nigga and boom! I was like, This nigga’s the hardest nigga on planet Earth. So, no, I’m not dissing 50. And I’m not throwing water on him, neither.”

House Of Representatives Passes PRO-IP Bill
The US House of Representatives overwhelmingly supported the Prioritizing Resources and Organization for Intellectual Property Act (PRO-IP; H.R. 4279) by a vote of 410-11 on Thursday. If enacted the bill would increase the governmental resources needed to penalize individuals deemed in violation of copyright infringement.
Current copyright infringement laws set the maximum penalty for infringement of one compilation at a fine of $30,000. However, if the PRO-IP Act is passed, courts could "make multiple awards of statutory damages" in individual cases. This would be similar to the legislation which led to the Recording Industry Association of America's $222,000 suit against Jammie Thomas for sharing 24 songs on the Kazaa peer-to-peer file sharing network.
Under the PRO-IP Act, anyone who willfully distributes over $1,000 worth of material (including maerial shared over a peer-to-peer network) could be subject to property seizure and prison terms, which range in length. The PRO-IP Act would also create an entirely new government agency called the White House Intellectual Property Enforcement Representative, or WHIPER.
While the PRO-IP Act has the bipartisan support of both Republicans and Democrats, there are a select group of politicians who introduced it in December of 2007. If you are in opposition to the PRO-IP Act, you can contact one of the founding representatives.

Juelz’s New Movie And Mixtape….The Project
Juelz Santana is in a new indie film that’s making the festival rounds and it has an interesting premise. Its a documentary by Ryan Piotrowicz about 2 naive eagerbeavers trying to go shoot a doc about “life in the hood” (both kids and cops) and obviously, they get more than they can handle. (Sometimes when I hear about certain projects I wonder about the motivation behind the pen/camera too.) The film is called The Project, and there may be a private screening in the city soon. [Note: now that I think about it, it kinda reminds me of the plot of Black and White, which is one of my favorite rap-infused movies, lol…Robert Downey Jr and Mike Tyson FTW]
But in the meantime, Juelz and his Skullgang DJ Travisty made a mixtape for the movie.

Sharpton & Sean Bell's Widow Arrested For Protesting
The Rev. Al Sharpton made good on his promise of civil disobedience and a vow to “shut this city down” in response to the acquittal of three New York police officers in the shooting death of Sean Bell by leading a protest in rush hour traffic yesterday.
Along with hundreds of supporters—including Bell’s widow, Nicole Paultre-Bell, and mother, protesters blocked entry to several of the city’s busiest bridges. The demonstrations took place at Queensboro Bridge , the Triborough Bridge, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Manhattan Bridge, the Holland Tunnel and the Queens Mid-town Tunnel.
According to a report by the New York Times, the largest bloc of demonstrators protested outside of police headquarters in Manhattan .
216 people, including Sharpton, the other two victims in the shooting, and Paultre-Bell were arrested during the peaceful demonstration.
While other high profile police killings in the New York area have been met with protests, advocates say they will not stop until justice for Sean Bell is served.
"We're going to keep coming until we get federal indictments. It's wrong," one man told the Associated Press.
Even drivers caught up in the traffic jam seemed supportive, and not too upset at the delays.
"I disagree with doing anything illegal, but, hey, this is what makes America great," Aaron Hanson told the AP while waiting to get into a tunnel. "If this is what people really need to do to make a statement, it's what they should do."
Sharpton and Bell’s relatives are scheduled to meet with New York City Governor David Paterson today.
Despite the acquittal, the NYPD has not ruled out disciplinary action against the officers.

What Does Diddy Think About Notorious Cast?

If you have seen episodes of Making the Band, you know it's hard to impress Diddy. The mogul recently opened up about whether or not he was impressed with the actors who portray him, The Notorious B.I.G., Tupac Shakur and others in the upcoming film, Notorious, about the life of Biggie Smalls.
Derek Luke was given the task of playing Diddy. How did he do, according to the man himself?
"People asked me years ago who you'd want to play me, and I said Derek Luke ... so it was just destined. I got to see him do his thing, and it was scary for me. I had to leave, 'cause he was acting just like me," he told MTV about the film.
"Gravy, the guy playing B.I.G., it was just too eerie for me to be on that. Gravy's killing it. If I tell you he's killing it, then that's all we need to say, you know what I'm saying? I don't think anybody could have done a better job."
Deric "D. Dot" Angelettie, a long time Bad Boy affiliate and the movie's music supervisor agrees.
"It's a little creepy. You know he's not B.I.G., and we accepted that, [but all of] B.I.G.'s people ... looked to Gravy and said, 'You can play B.I.G. You could do it!' I believe that Gravy has studied hard enough; I think he got enough battle scars from the streets that he could pull it off. We're very happy that he's a part of it."
One thing few know about the film is that it's "Miss Wallace's movie."
"It's not my movie," Puff admitted. "A lot of people don't know this, but it's not my movie. It's Miss Wallace's movie. It's from a mother's perspective. I'm just there as support."
"It's good for his mom. It gives [her] some relief that the world really appreciated her son. It's good for Brooklyn, it's good for hip-hop," D. Dot chimed. "It's [gonna be] very good."
Fans anticipating will have to wait for the film to hit theaters January 2009.
