A few months ago, the DNTN Brand was selected by lifestyle branding group Creative Contraband to exhibit our line during the S.L.A.T.E. show this August in Las Vegas, NV. S.L.A.T.E., which is part of the famous MAGIC Marketplace, is, according to their website “a curated gathering of the most progressive streetwear labels representing the underground surf, skate, art and music communities—from indie to established. Defined by an authentic vibe and unapologetically fresh perspective, S.L.A.T.E. spotlights the fashion and lifestyles of those inspiring the trends of tomorrow.” As you can see, The DNTN Brand fit perfectly into this category. Continuously crawling with celebrities, brands from all over the country come to MAGIC twice a year, in hopes to land store accounts and to promote brand awareness to stylists, buyers, and media.
Booth packages for S.L.A.T.E. start at about $4200, however, The DNTN Brand’s fee was waived because we were selected to be a part of “Project 10” – a careful curation of 10 brands essential
to every young man’s wardrobe.
Weeks leading up to the big show, we had been working tirelessly through sleep deprivation to design and produce our Fall 2012 collection and to select our iconic pieces to show during S.L.A.T.E. Being one season behind the rest of the fashion world, we set out to take this opportunity as more of a learning experience and opportunity to network with the best of the best, rather than exhibiting strictly to land store accounts. We were able to accomplish both. In addition to the Status shop on South Street in Philadelphia, the DNTN Brand will now be available in 3 stores in New York, 1 store in Atlanta and Bermuda!
Some of the industry folks we met that dropped jewels of wisdom and advice on us include: Marcus Troy (Leading lifestyle blogger & cultural curator), Datwon Thomas (Executive Editor at VIBE Magazine), BJ Calvero and Robert Panlilio (Co-owners of Crooks & Castles), Scott Hase (East Coast Sales manager DOPE Couture) and GreatScott McKenzie (Published, Author, Social Media Manager, Personality & Cultural Liaison).
This invaluable experience changed our lives and outlook on where we want to take our company. We have big plans to be unveiled soon. The DNTN Brand is working extremely hard to continue producing the high quality fashion forward apparel and accessories we are known for. Our sincerest and most humble appreciation goes out to everyone and your continued support. We promise to put on for our city in every way.
