Nelly Ft. JD & Ciara - Stepped on My J's

This is the last attempt from Nelly to make a hit before his album comes out. If you remember he dropped "Wadsyaname" and it flopped, then he dropped "Party People" and well I didnt post the video. I guess he feels he cant go wrong with a song like this, but can he sell an album over a song about Jordans? I mean his air force ones song was hot because everything he was putting out at that time was a hit and was pushed heavily in the mass media. Now it seems as if he cant carry the torch anymore.

But for those who dont remember watching "Do The Right Thing" Nelly stole the one clip from this Spike Lee Movie. You know the same Spike Lee movie that has a poster right next to the door in the tv show Martin...yeah that movie well this is the clip.

I never had a confrontation about someone stepping on my Jordans before but I would assume it would be just like this. One of my friends saying "Ya shits fucked up!" and another slow muthafucka acting like Martin telling me to "throw them shits away", then someone else saying "he did that shit on purpose and he was even talking about yo moms" and then they start to talk about the prices and how much I waited in line just so he could scuff them up. Lmao. You have to love this clip

Nelly, Akon & Pharrell To Form Supergroup?

This past weekend, Nelly entertained a select few at the Red Rock Hotel's suites in Las Vegas for his listening party for the long overdue Brass Knuckles. When discussing the songs featured on the album, Akon made a special appearance along with Jermaine Dupri. As Akon was discussing his relationship with Nelly and the song he produced titled “Body On Me” a small tidbit of information leaked out.

“Me and Nelly used to bump into each other off and on and it had nothing to do with music. We were always looking for the opportunity to work together,” Akon said. “There was a thing that Nelly was coming up with that had me, him and Pharrell possibly doing an album together. We just wanted to find something we could do together.”

The room lit up as this was the first time a collaboration of this magnitude had ever been discussed. But just how realistic is the collaboration?

“Right now it’s just a concept,” Nelly responded when questioned about the trio working together. “I just got the idea because I love groups like Bell Biv Devoe. When they got a chance to come together. When LSG (Gerald Levert, Keith Sweat and Johnny Gill) did it. Nobody has really done it on the Hip Hop level. Nobody has put egos aside and said ‘You know what? Let’s do something that would be crazy! We don’t have that (moment in time) and I feel like we’re missing that something special.”

Talks of multiple supergroups have always been swimming in the gossip pool. However, aside from The Firm or some of the R&B/Hip Hop collabs with R Kelly and Jay-Z or Bow Wow and Omarion, there hasn’t been a collaborative effort that could impact the charts like this.

“It’s just (several) different concepts that he’s throwing out and I’m entertaining,” Akon continued. “That’s how it is. You never really know when and how that magic is going to happen. I just love collaborating because it brings out the best in whoever we are collaborating with.”

Look for Brass Knuckles August 19th on Universal.

I dunno if this would be a supergroup. I mean it didnt make me go crazy and start calling my niggas like yo guess who are making a group. maybe the fact Nelly name was mention fucks it up, I mean if you say Akon, Pharrell and Weezy then I may get hype. Or Akon, Pharrell, and Hov, or Akon, Pharrell and Fabolous, or Akon, Pharrell and T.I. I mean at this point Nelly has really fell off so Im pretty sure this was his idea because it would make him look good and his stock rise.

Rappers Respond To Down Low Tell-All, "You Could F*ck Up A Man's Happy Home"

A former MTV producer Terrance Dean has written a book about his experiences living on the down low in the entertainment industry. In the book, he describes the star-studded, "anything goes" parties that he has attended and provides detailed descriptions of closeted celebs.

Many rappers think that Dean is wrong for releasing this tell-all. "That's so gay like for you to go and tell all this information," said Chi-town emcee Yung Berg. [Watch Below]

David Banner agrees. He believes that those that are hiding in hip-hop should be given the opportunity to come out of the closet on their own and likens outing to snitching, a practice that is frowned upon in the hip-hop community.

"I hate this outing, man," he says. "People are snitches. Everybody is snitches. You have to give people their opportunity. You wouldn't want nobody to front on you and put your business out there."

Berg also discussed the possible repercussions of Terrance Dean's Book.

"You could f*ck up a man's happy home," he said. "It might be one of them dudes you talk about in the book that wear his boxers on...but he probably still got a wife and kids and you might f*ck up his life."

St Louis rapper Nelly was a bit more diplomatic.

"He can say whatever he want to say, I guess," Nelly said. "These are his experiences. If he's coming out with things just to make money then yeah, it's wrong [but] if he's been violated by a person or some incident that happened to him then I think he has every right to express himself."

Nelly Talks New Album

After four years of seemingly disappearing from music, minus a few guest appearances, Nelly is back in the studio and preparing to release his fifth album, Brass Knuckles.

With claims of album scheduling conflicts and other delays, the St. Lunatic is currently scheduled to release the upcoming effort on June 24th. According to Billboard, Nelly is still creating tracks for the album but is expected to collaborate from artists including Ciara, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Akon and LL Cool J.

In a previous interview with Rap-Up TV from last August, Nelly explained the significance of the album’s title.

“It was the best way I could explain how hard I was gonna hit you. It’s crazy,” Nelly said in the interview.

While not going in to full-detail at the time, Nelly confirmed producers Jermaine Dupri and Pharrell as key people working on tracks. He also said the album would feature a handful of new producers.

Brass Knuckles will be Nelly’s follow-up to his simultaneously released ’04 albums, Sweat and Suit, which combined for a total of 4.4 million sold copies in the US, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

BET And MMA Link For Hip Hop-Assisted New Show

Hip Hop and Mixed Martial Arts bump heads in the new BET original series, Iron Ring.

From the creator of Ultimate Fighting Challenge (UFC), Iron Ring showcases the full contact combat sport with a twist, this time around, incorporating some of Hip Hop's heavy hitters such as Ludacris, Nelly and Lil Jon.

The celebrity Mixed Martial Arts team “owners” will be paired with trainers and fighters battling it out in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), jiu-jitsu, judo, karate, boxing, kickboxing and wrestling while competing for a $100,000 grand prize.

With teams like WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather's, "Mayweather Boys", Lil Jon's “Head Busters”, Juelz Santana and partner in crime Jim Jones’ “Team Dipset” and T.I. leading “Team Grand Hustle”, Iron Ring will definitely be a concoction of Hip Hop, sports and Hollywood.

"When I heard BET was bringing Iron Ring to the air...I wanted to be involved in any way I could," said Ludacris, owner of “Team Luda."What people will get out of Iron Ring is that it's less about the man in the fight and more about the fight in the man."

Mixed Martial Arts is quickly becoming one of the fastest growing sports in American entertainment, and big name marketing partnerships including Sony Playstation's God of War, and Summit Entertainment's film Never Back Down wanted, to be a part its evolution.

Artists such as Rick Ross, Big Kuntry, Young Dro, DJ Drama and Alpha Omega are also assisting various teams during the competition.

"With Iron Ring, BET is delivering on our mission of providing a wide range of programming for our audience, while also creating another forum for black athletes to showcase their martial arts talent," said Reginald Hudlin, President of Entertainment for BET.

The 13 episode weekly series is set to launch March 18 at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT on BET.
