T.I. Signs 8Ball & MJG While Beef Continues

8Ball & MJG are headed to their third record label. T.I. announced the veteran group was signing with his Grand Hustle label during his Hot 107.9 Birthday Bash on Saturday. While 8Ball & MJG have always enjoyed critical acclaim, the group only saw moderate commercial success after leaving Suave House for Bad Boy in 2004. Their Bad Boy debut, Living Legends spawned the single "You Don't Want Drama," which eventually reached number 22 on Billboard Magazine's list of Hot Rap Tracks. Ridin High followed in 2007 to little fanfare, and talks of the duo leaving Bad Boy began. In addition to their own independent works, the group also had a greatest hits album released through Koch.
Working with T.I. should be familiar territory for 8Ball & MJG, as they have collaborated on Living Legends' "Look at the Grillz" and "Bezzle" off of T.I.'s Urban Legend album. Both Bad Boy and Grand Hustle are subsidiaries of the Warner Music Group.
In other T.I. related news, "Tip" may be fighting a war on both fronts. During the same birthday bash which he announced his signing of 8Ball & MJG, "The King of the South" continued his feud with D4L's Shawty Lo. The argument over Shawty Lo's claims that he is the "Real King of Bankhead" was kept to performance theatrics with Ludacris, DG Yola and Dem Franchize Boyz performing during Lo's set, while 8Ball, MJG and B.O.B. performed with T.I.
Always one to embrace beef for promotional purposes, 50 Cent has now recruited Shawty Lo to assist on the remix of "On You So Tough." The original version finds 50 taking aim at T.I. saying: "Nowadays this rap shit ain’t adding up/How niggas get caught with 10 machine guns, only get 12 months?”

50 Cent Sparking Beef With T.I. On T.O.S.?

Hot97 gossip queen Miss Info made a strange discovery late Thursday night for G-Unit's listening session at New York's Fight Klub for upcoming album T.O.S. (Terminate On Site).
The radio personality and frequent Vh1 commentator said that the album caters to longtime 50 Cent and G-Unit mixtape fans above more mainstream audiences impressed by Curtis, there is a particular line in the song "You So Tough" that may be attempting to stir the pot of Hip Hop yet again.
Although 50 Cent and G-Unit have yet to comment, the song features the lines, "Nowaways, this rap shit ain't adding up / How niggas get caught with 10 machine guns, only get 12 months" and "Got the best lawyers that money can buy / They say at best they woulda got me 10 or maybe nine." The last allusion followed, "I said, 'How do you explain how the homie breezed?' They said, 'You keep your mouth shut or you eat the cheese.'”
Many can quickly speculate that this is a jab at T.I., who was arrested last October for a weapons offense charge, and given a highly-reduced sentence.
In his own classic call-out, believed to be directed at Lil Flip, "I'm Talkin' To You," T.I. made it clear that he was supportive of longtime collaborator and then G-Unit member Young Buck, though he never mentions 50 Cent. Similarly, on last year's "Watch What You Say To Me," a track where T.I.'s guest Jay-Z was believed to have spoken out against Lil Wayne, T.I.'s verse was never clarified. 50 Cent and T.I. have never collaborated. Both have a history of on and off-record feuds with other rappers and industry executives.
Below is a picture of T.I.'s guns he was caught with. Yeah something doesnt add up here because I remember seeing BillBoards in Philly about every unregistered gun you are found with is a mandatory 5 years and every bullet is an additional year in prison. Dam 12 months for those guns does make you raise your eyebrow.

T.I. Tripples His Worth W/ New Movie Deal , Continues Concert Run

Atlanta rapper T.I. continues his growing list of big movie roles as he has just signed a three-picture deal with Sony's Screen Gems.
According to Variety, Bone Deep is the first film to be released under the deal. The heist flick will feature the self-proclaimed "King of the South" alongside actors Matt Dillon and Idris Elba from "The Wire." Directed by John Luessenhop, the drama will be based in New York and center on a group of bank robbers attempting to pull off their final heist.
Tip's second film, Boulevard, is a drama still in development while the third picture has yet to be determined. T.I. has made a name for himself as he shared on-screen scenes with both Denzel Washington and Common in American Gangster as well as his feature film debut in ATL.
T.I. has been sentenced to a year in prison beginning in March 2009 for federal gun charges as well as other penalties including 1,500 hours of community service and up to three years probation. Despite these restrictions, Screen Gems continued their long-term investment with the rapper.
In related news, T.I. has continued to stay busy as he announced a set of nationwide concerts last month. The rapper has added several more dates, with the next event on June 6th in Washington, DC and continuing through to Denver and Baltimore on July 3rd and July 11th.
Its amazing how your stock goes up either when you die or when your going to jail. I mean he already was that nigga and now its a fact when he drops these 3 movies which will more then likely drop while he is in prison, his album sales port prison will be crazy. I mean dam he flipped the shit out of his upcoming prison deal with deal with Sony and not just a one movie script. I mean niggas like Denzel dont even do shit like that. I really dont expect TI deals to be anything more then $5 million tops for all three movies because he isnt that nigga yet. But yet in still thats just what I expect and we will never know the actual numbers.

Shawty Lo On T.I. "This Is Not A Publicity Stunt"
Like wood to a fire, Shawty Lo responded back to the statements T.I. made about him on MTV through an interview with TheMostAccess.com.
About the origins of the beef, said Shawty Lo, “What started it, he sent a shot at me on one of his songs ['King'] and I sent a shot back on ‘Dunn Dunn.’ I guess unfortunately he wanted to say my name a couple weeks ago, and that’s what started it. I tried to tell the truth. I came back, and see that this shit is all over the internet.”
When asked if it was a publicity stunt, Shawty Lo was adamant stating, “If I was trying to get publicity I would have put T.I.’s name on my album. My album’s been out since February 26th. I ain’t ever said T.I.’s name till he said my name two or three weeks ago on radio. So it ain’t no publicity stunt, it started from him.”
Changing the subject to focus more on him, Shawty Lo explained his future projects. “I’m trying to do a little bit of acting and I got a book coming out. The book is like my life story, like my DVD. It’s called Shawty Lo: The Real Bankhead Story.”

T.I. Explains Need for Army Guns & has a MTV Reality TV Show in the Making
T.I. Reality Show Coming To MTV
In addition to performing concerts and speaking to youth before reporting to the slammer next year, T.I. now has a crew of cameras watching him do it all. The rapper is using the last of his year on house arrest to film a documentary series for MTV.
According to Variety, the network will go with the self-proclaimed "King of the South" as he performs the remainder of his community service hours and prepares for a one-year prison sentence next spring. The network plans to air the show some time soon after T.I. goes to jail in early 2009.
The series, by Ish Entertainment, has already gotten an eight-episode order from MTV.
"We began the conversations in the middle of deliberations over what would happen to him," said Ish's Michael Hirschorn, whose executive producing with partner Stella Stolper. "The original idea for the show had him staging a series of interventions in each episode with people in danger. But when we visited him under house arrest, it felt much bigger and more powerful than we anticipated."
Tip (born Clifford Joseph Harris, Jr.) has a history of being on the wrong side of the law, convicted for selling crack cocaine in the late 1990s. In March, the rapper pled guilty to federal weapons charges; the offense that got him the year's stint.
"Hopefully the mistakes I've made will be a lesson to today's youth and they won't go down that same path," T.I. said.
Tip didn't need the court's permission to do the show, but MTV will stick to the rules of the artist's home confinement. The show will also cover the release of Tip's upcoming album, Paper Trail, heavily inspired by his latest legal woes and the birth of his newborn son.
